Marlington Local Schools Summer Arts Program Instructor Bios
Our arts program will employ several highly qualified teachers in various disciplines. In addition to the instructors, guest artists will participate in the program with workshops, exhibits and musical performances. Most of our instructors will be returning to teach in 2008.
INSTRUCTORS
Kathy Guidone - An art teacher at Louisville Middle School, Kathy has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts with a major in Painting/Drawing and a minor in Sculpture, and a Masters degree in Education. She's an Arts Lead Teacher for Louisville, where she led a summer art program for 5 years. She worked as a teaching intern at the Massillon Museum of Art in August 2006, designing lesson plans that integrate art and math. She planned and designed a garden in memory of a colleague. Focal point of the garden is an original sculpture featuring artwork of Louisville students.
Diane Kuntzman - Diane is a veteran teacher at Washington Elementary School. She and her family are very involved in advocating the arts. Her husband is a painter, and one of her daughters is Coordinator of Education at the Canton Museum of Art. Diane is an artist who enjoys pottery, cross-stitching and quilting.
Dan and Pam Susany - Dan and Pam have been involved with African hand drumming for 10 years. A professional surveyor and counselor, respectively, Dan and his wife got started with hand drumming through their participation in drum circles. They've since facilitated several local drum circles and have shared drumming with a diverse population including senior citizens, corporate managers and elementary school children. Their drumming has taken them to schools, churches, parks, auditoriums, cruise ships, health centers, farms and zoos. They've taken part in sessions with drummers from Africa, who they say have been their best teachers.
John Rasile - John received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University in 2000, with a concentration in painting. He studied under Craig Lucas and Martin Ball at Kent. He is also an accomplished guitarist, having studied with his Great Uncle Carl Rasile, Michael Vahilla and Erin Vaughan of Canton, and George Bachman at Kent State, Stark campus. John has been teaching in the Alliance area for four years.
Natalie Green - Natalie is a graduate of Marlington High School and Point Park University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theater. She had leading roles in many high school musical productions and has also been involved with both Carnation City Players and the Canton Players Guild. An equity actor, she's performed the role of Belle in the stage production of Disney's “Beauty and the Beast” in Cleveland the past two Decembers.
Julie Grasse - Julie is an instructor at the Canton Ballet. More information about her background will appear in this space very soon!
Nathaniel Johnson - Nate is currently a student at Kent State University studying photo illustration. He is an artist and photographer who has won competitions for his work in photography. He took many of the photographs posted on our arts camp website. He is a Marlington High School graduate and was a volunteer for our summer arts program in 2006.
Ryan Loeckel - Ryan is a private strings instructor in Canton, OH. He is also a member of the Heritage Strings Ensemble which performs extensively in the northeast Ohio region. More information about Ryan is coming soon.
