Jan Flick Sculpture
Jan Flick Sculpture
Mrs. Kathy Guidone designed this sculpture in memory of her friend and
colleague Jan Flick. Mrs. Guidone taught Art with Miss Flick in the
Louisville Public Schools. Miss Flick passed away unexpectedly and Mrs.
Guidone wanted to honor her memory with a work of art. The stainless
steel, construction, and installation of the sculpture was donated by a
local company, Midlake Products Inc. The concrete for its base was also
donated. The tiles within the sculpture were made and designed by
Louisville Middle School students from lessons that were taught to them by Miss Flick. The tiles are glazed ceramic and represent the creativity of each individual student as they sought to memorialize Miss Flick. Since the sculpture is meant to be a living memorial, the tiles are
interchangeable and will be rotated regularly. The sculpture is located
outside the Louisville Middle School in Louisville, Ohio. It is a
wonderful piece of art and a fitting tribute to a beloved art teacher.
There is a website about Jan Flick and the memorial which can be accessed
through Louisville Middle School’s site at www.midleps.spsarcc.org.
